Greetings from Mexico City!
I’ve been busy preparing for my very first group tour and workshop - The Art of Storytelling this October 1-7th in Mexico City. I’m very excited about this and wanted to share more about what I have planned.
The Art of Storytelling combines my passion for travel storytelling with my deep love for Mexico City. For 7 days, I’ll take you to my favorite parts of Mexico City, showing you the best of the capital’s history, culture, and food - while teaching the principles of storytelling.
The trip will culminate with the chance to perform a story for a travel-themed edition of my storytelling open mic, Cuéntame.

Where We’re Staying
Our group will be staying in the peaceful and stylish Condesa neighborhood at the Casa Nuevo León, a boutique design hotel with options for private and shared rooms. This will be our home base throughout the week, conveniently located above the stellar bistro, Farmacia Internacional, where we’ll meet for breakfast each day.
The hotel is just a block away from Avenida Amsterdam, Condesa’s famous pedestrian walkway that was once a horse-racing track before the neighborhood was developed in the Art Deco style in the 1920s. This story - and why the neighborhood is named after a Countess - is one of many you will learn through your week in Mexico.
What We’ll Be Doing
We’ll explore a different neighborhood each day - from Condesa to Coyoacán, Roma to the historic center.
I’ll take you to the sites of some of the most incredible stories on earth - from the legendary founding of the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan to its tragic fall. We’ll see the works of Mexico’s greatest artists and hang out in the favorite cantinas of the Beat Generation writers like Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.
I’ll also take you to my favorite restaurants - from hidden gems to some of the hottest tables in town. We’ll sample mezcal, try indigenous foods, and make pit stops in some of the best taco stands in the country. Get ready to eat well!
What You’ll Learn
The trip will have a nice balance of travel and workshop activities. We’ll start each day with some journaling exercises, learn a new storytelling principle in an iconic location, and finish a sharing circle each evening.
There is no requirement to perform at Cuéntame at the end of the week, but the workshop is designed to help you identify a story to tell, develop it in class, and practice performing it with our group before hitting the big stage.
