Just wow. I've been in this "blessing or curse conversation with a young friend, this helps me see his excitement.

What an absolutely fascinating question. And I mostly think it's going to be a good -- if disruptive -- thing. I'm certainly eager to play around with it using my own photos.

But I do wonder about this sentence: But A.I. does have the power to turn everyone into an artist.

Is that actually true? Is giving AI some words describing what you're going for and then having it do the work make you an artist? Or is the AI the artist? Or is it a collaboration? You're creating your own iterations certainly moves it more in that direction.

As I said before, I'm not anti-AI and I certainly don't want to align with modern Luddites.

And I suppose what I think doesn't much matter as this genie is definitely out of the bottle.

The genie is definitely out of the bottle. As for your question, I think the bar of what it takes to create art has been lowered, allowing more people to create what would be traditionally considered "Art." So maybe the bar of what we consider to be "art" will have to be raised, while this imagery will just been seen as "content." But... that's not going to stop me from trying to launch an NFT collection, because... obviously ; )

It is another creative medium, just like photography was in the 1800's.

Fears of photography sent the art communities into a panic as well.

This is a good point. Painters used to think that photography was a "cheating" but eventually camera was accepted to be a legitimate tool and an art form in its own right.

Interesting stuff. I just started playing around with Jasper.ai for some business writing. I’ve written promotional blog posts for years on everything from stock promotion to CBD dog treats. They’re often like writing mad libs when you get the outline down - you’re less creating than regurgitating ideas that exist elsewhere into a cohesive piece.

With Jasper, it essentially does that for you. You give it the topic for a paragraph and - it makes the argument for you. The editor is designed to let the ai generate a paragraph, with SEO in mind, and then copy and paste fragments into a longer piece. Kids are figuring this out and using it to write their homework. Even the AI thinks this is a bad idea. https://www.pcgamer.com/even-an-ai-thinks-using-ai-to-write-your-homework-is-a-bad-idea/

The ai can’t come up with the outline though…yet.

Interesting, that's something I would like to check out. It seems like AI writing can help get through the brunt of the first draft and help writers do less copy-writing and more editing.
