I’m pretty new here, and I’ll definitely try to join the next book club discussion. Will we discuss translations and Latino authors as well? Currently, I’m only reading books in Spanish. With all the time I spend reading English content on Substack and teaching English, I try to only read in Spanish outside of Substack. I’d be very interested in discussing and learning about what expressions and sensory details feel different when translating works.
What a good recommendation. I caught a glimpse of the book on your IG story a few days ago. It sounds like a really important book. I'll check the library for a copy to read along. Similar theme as Amartya Sen write about in "Identity and Violence," which already sits on my personal book shelf.
