Fascinating insights. Living in the Balkans last year I saw for myself the rise of Russian immigrants. And I'm told that Malaysia -- our current home -- has been very popular with Russians fleeing the country.

Excellent reporting. I’ve wondered about this question for a while and now I have an answer. But I certainly didn’t expect to read about birth flights to Argentina. That’s worth a feature story in and of itself. Thanks for writing this Marko.

This is a really well-researched article and I appreciate the time and effort this took to put together. I'm surprised to learn about the birth tourism in Argentina. I'd also be interested to see an equivalent breakdown of the most popular destinations for Ukrainian refugees and how they're reshaping cities around Europe and the world

I lived in Bali for a few years (2019-2021). Even before covid Russians already had a bad reputation. Insular, rude towards the Balinese (I've personally witnessed some cringeworthy behavior), and the neocolonial behavior is off the charts.
